UNINSURED CARS |
8th April, 2004 The Conservative Party in England have set out a six-point plan to crack down on those who drive without insurance. The proposals include measures to link the motor insurance database with the DVLA database, to include insurance information as part of the driving test, to encourage lower premiums for drivers who take extra training, to increase fines for offenders and to confiscate the vehicles of repeat offenders. Shadow transport secretary, Damian Green MP, said, 'Uninsured drivers are a menace who make every road in this country less safe. Our plan deals with both detection and deterrence. We want to see stiffer penalties, including the confiscation of vehicles of repeat offenders.'
