Des West (right) (who sold a new Holden as his first sale at the family
business, West's Garage) recently met Margaret Cornall (left) (daughter of the original owner and now the current owner

Australian motor racing legend Des West has had a lifelong association
with the Manning District in NSW. His father opened West's Garage in the 1930's. During most of Des's racing career he
returned to the Manning to work at West's Garage.
Des's long and distinguished career recently saw him inducted into the Manning Sporting Hall of Fame together with
triple World Super bike Champion Troy Bails and Australian Rugby League captain Danny Buderis.
The accompanying image shows Des meeting the current owner of his very first 'sale'. Des sold the Holden 48/215 on
the 17th June 1949 to Allan Bell and family of Wingham. The car is now owned by its original owner's daughter Margaret
Cornall.
Margaret confirmed that it is the one car that she has always wanted to own and that she will never sell it. At this
juncture, Des could safely say that after almost 62 years the warranty has well and truly expired!
