One of the newest cars in the nation is the Suzuki
Kizashi.
It takes the famous Japanese manufacturer into a new market segment, that of the important
mid-sized sedans.
Power is provided by a 2.4 litre four-cylinder petrol engine. You can be assured that this is
plenty and equips the Kizashi with good performance.
Next Car drove this new model eight hundred and sixty eight kilometres, including a drive from
Melbourne to Albury and return. We were absolutely delighted by the driving experience.
The Kizashi drove well, proving to be comfortable and easy to get along with.
Front seat room is good, whilst rear seat room is better than you would normally expect in this
category with both legroom and headroom rated as very good.
The boot space is good as well.
Fuel consumption is also commendable, with the factory suggesting the combined cycle comes in at
7.9 litres per 100 kilometres.
Under heavy acceleration a little 'torque steer' is evident for the initial burst on the 'go
pedal'.
Our drive was the base model, which is known as the "XL". The automatic XL is priced at
thirty thousand, four hundred and ninety dollars excluding the traditional on-road costs, whilst
the manual version is two and a half thousand dollars less.
Safety aspects of the Suzuki Kizashi include six airbags and 'ESP' amongst other things.
As you would expect from Suzuki, careful thought has been applied to the design of the Kizashi.
Although it is Suzuki's first mid-sized sedan, it follows the well established pattern of providing
careful design qualities and, as always, good value for money in both the aquisition and the on-going
costs.
On that basis, I readily accept the new Suzuki Kizashi is a very welcome new-comer to the
Australian market.
