NEXT CAR'S NEWSLETTER
18th SEPTEMBER, 2005

WELCOME
to our newsletter #56

FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK

Friends,

Thanks for your patience whilst you await the publication of yet another 'bumper' edition of our newsletter. With the Frankfurt Motor Show 'now showing' in Germany and with the Sydney Motor Show only a month away it is no surprise that there is plenty of news around. We're not expecting any reduction in the quantity of news stories over the coming weeks. On that basis, keep an eye on the news daily if you wish to keep up with the latest news!

The Barina, Tigra and Viva will be arriving at Holden dealers soon, but that isn't the only news from Holden. We have our ear to ground and we expect to make an announcement sooner rather than later about other product news from Holden.

Mitsubishi have their new '380' arriving next month. And Ford have the BF series Falcon coming along during October.

It seems unlikely that automotive journalists will be taking holidays during October!

Warm regards,
Stephen Walker

LOOKING BACK

1973 Honda Civic

1973 Honda Civic on display at the
2005 Frankfurt Motor Show
with other 'historical' Civics.

The Honda Civic went on sale in Japan on 12th July, 1973. It was a car developed with the company’s back to the wall (so to speak). At this time the company was considering a withdrawal from the car manufacturing business. But the Civic was well received in the marketplace and went on to become one of the most successful cars on the market. On 13th December of the following year, the four-door Civic and CVCC 1500 went on sale, giving the model a solid basis for success in the Japanese market. Export markets enjoyed the Civic too!

The Editor's Pick Of The News

After reading the news, which story did you enjoy the most?

There is a considerable amount of news in this issue. So many news cars (for example we have stories on the BF Falcon, the new Mazda 6, new Audi A4 cabriolet, new Jaguar XK models, new Bentley Azure, new VW Eos, new dual-fuel Commodore, new 2.4 litre Lancers, the Lancer Evo IX, new Volvo C70, new Mercedes M-Class, new Mitsubishi Outlander and so many more) and there are so many concept cars making an appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show. There are plenty of updated models too. But for this issue, my pick of the news is the Australian release of the new Suzuki Grand Vitara. Suzuki have an excellent reputation for value, quality and economical operating costs. The new Grand Vitara arrives at just the right time! Many 4x4 drivers will appreciate its size as well as the stated Suzuki attributes. Success for Suzuki is virtually guaranteed! Therefore, it's my pick of the news.
