WELCOME
to our newsletter #28

FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK

Friends,

The distribution of news is what we do best and it's easy to see that we're doing a good job! Last week we patted ourselves upon our own backs as we recognised we now publish more automotive news than our major web-based competitors. Please be assured we will maintain this standard. Our road test programme is expanding, too! It's a great time to be upbeat with our presentation of Australia's automotive news ..... our visitor numbers continue to climb. That delights us immensely!

Warm regards,
Stephen Walker

    EDITOR'S
    PICK OF THE WEEK

After reading the news of the week, which story did you enjoy the most?

In latter times, mergers and take-overs have reduced the number of car manufacturers. The car companies of today seem to be getting bigger and bigger. Yet one small company continues today, just as it has since it began in 1909. Morgan is now in it's third generation of family management and continues to manufacture cars for a niche market. It's pleasing to see this small British company continue to do what it does best. Morgan's new roadster is the next step in continuing a mighty fine tradition ...... the production of a traditional British sports car. For me, this is the story of the week ..... read the story

    Car Club Corner

Here's a listing of some of the nation's car clubs.

For 1970, in collaboration with Volkswagen, Porsche expanded their model line-up with the introduction of the 914. This mid-engined two-seater targa-top sports car was aimed squarely at the American market. It was powered by a 1.7 litre 4 cylinder air cooled engine. There was, also, a 914/6 which had a 2-litre six cylinder air cooled engine, which was only on the market for a year or two. By 1973 the 914S had been introduced. It was equipped with a 2-litre 4 cylinder engine. For 1974 the 1.7 was replaced by a 1.8 engine. Final production models were all 2 litre equipped.

The 914 was replaced by the 924 for 1977.
