FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK

Friends,

You may have noticed there isn't a great amount of news this week. But as always, things are happening and we have a few items to report. One thing is for sure, though. We won't make speculation a news item! So two rumours from this week don't even rate a mention in our pages.

Warm regards,
Stephen Walker

    LOOKING BACK

Strike Me Pink ..... just one of the colours available in 1973!

What made the LJ series GTR XU-1 different from the regular GTR?

The XU-1 had 142 kW (190 hp) of power from it's 3.3 litre in-line 6 cylinder motor. There were 3 1¾"/4.4 cm sidebraught Stromberg carburettors with variable venturis, ram inlet manifold and individual low-restriction air cleaners. There's a heat shield to separate the exhaust manifolds and carburettors. There's a dual exhaust manifold with 2" (5.1 cm) pipes blending into a resonator. A straight through type, low loss muffler with single inlet and dual outlet tail pipes was standard. XU-1 had a larger capacity radiator, a limited slip differential, a front air dam, a rear spoiler and a 77.3 litre fuel tank. Radial ply tyres were optional! A black interior was standard.
