3rd March, 2006 The new Volkswagen Passat Sedan and Wagon made their Australian debut at the Brisbane Motor Show today. For the first time, Volkswagen Group Australia has chosen the Brisbane Motor Show to launch a significant new model, the all new Passat. The global Passat story is a significant one. The first Passat was built at the Volkswagen Emden factory over thirty three (33) years ago and with over thirteen (13) million built since, it has been the most successful model behind the Volkswagen Beetle and Golf. Features
Engines and Transmissions 2.0 FSI Turbo - The two petrol engines start with the 2.0 FSI Turbo engine, the same as offered in the Golf GTI and Jetta. This engine delivers 147 Kw of power and 280 Nm of torque, propelling the new Passat from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 7.8 seconds. This will be offered with a six speed tiptronic automatic transmission. 3.2 V6 FSI - The range topping 3.2 V6 FSI is a true performance six cylinder engine. Delivering 184 kW of power and 330 Nm of torque, it will launch you from a standing start to 100 km/h in under seven 7 seconds. This with the assistance of Volkswagen’s acclaimed six speed DSG transmission and 4MOTION all wheel drive. 2.0 TDI - The arrival of the new Passat brings with it the long awaited and final addition of diesel engines now offered on all Volkswagen passenger vehicles. This engine is the renowned 103 kW power plant with 320 Nm of torque. It will get you from 0 to 100 km/h in under 10 seconds and importantly achieve this very economically, using approximately only 6.6 litres of diesel per 100 kms on average. Again, the renowned DSG transmission is significant in ensuring the torque and fuel economy from this diesel engine is maximised. Volkswagen dealers are taking orders now for the new Passat Sedan and Wagon in time for public launch and deliveries in April. New Passat Sedan and Wagon, full of many unexpected pleasures. |
