14th October, 2005 With up to seven seats and two sliding doors, the Volkswagen Caddy Life opens up a whole new world of practical and exciting people moving innovation in the compact van class. Attractively styled and cleverly designed, the new Caddy Life combines the best of both worlds, providing a versatile and spacious family van with the handling and grace of a sedan. With a total length of just over 4405 mm, the new Caddy Life offers a compact yet spacious interior to comfortably handle every automotive challenge an Australian family would expect from their dependable family van. Doing the shopping, picking the children up from school, shuttling around between weekend sporting events, going away on holiday, and visiting family and friends in far flung places, the new Caddy Life takes it all in its stride. The seven seating capacity is achieved through a 3 seater bench and a removable 2 seater bench offering passengers a unique traveling experience, with each row having a higher seating level than the one in front. Additionally, the 700 mm wide sliding doors fitted on both sides enable passengers to enter and leave the vehicle with ease and comfort. Functionality has been cleverly designed into the new Caddy Life to make it both a practical and reliable everyday companion. It offers a payload of up to 608 kg and boasts a maximum luggage compartment volume of 2239 litres. The triple bench seat can be partially folded, fully-folded or folded/tipped, whilst the double bench seat can be removed altogether. And, if the need arises to carry even more than this exceptional payload capacity, the Caddy Life is able to tow loads weighing up to 1500 kg. As standard, the new Caddy Life offers vertical adjustment for the driver’s seat, along with adjustable steering wheel height and inclination to enable an optimum view of the dashboard and to ensure safe handling. Seat heating and a navigation system with a large, colour display are optionally available. Sadly, just one airbag is standard in the Caddy Life. Storage compartments are also a highlight throughout the Caddy’s interior. The base of the driver’s seat houses a roomy drawer, and a large roof gallery above the windscreen offers additional stowage space. Further storage compartments and cup holders are located in the centre console and the inner door lining. There’s practically a place for anything and everything. Based on the technology fitted in the all new fifth generation Golf, the new Caddy Life is designed with precise handling, excellent power to weight ratios, reliability, economy and safety. The Caddy life is powered by a 1.9 litre TDI engine with an output of 77 kW (105) hp operating with unit injector technology. Standard Volkswagen safety control systems include ABS, TCS (Traction Control System) and EBC (Engine Braking Control). ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) with brake assist may be ordered as an option. Driver and front passenger airbags are fitted as standard and side airbags are available as an option. In short, the new Caddy Life is a combination of commercial vehicle and family van. The new Caddy Life will be available in Australia from early 2006. Volkswagen Caddy Life 1.9 TDI Engine
