2nd August, 2005 A line-up of Volkswagen Beetles and New Beetles rolled through Berlin’s city centre on Saturday 30th July. Thousands of fans of both models came to celebrate. The first participants had already arrived for the line-up at Berlin’s Siegessaeule (triumphal column) by 6 a.m., even though the parade was scheduled to start at 3 p.m. Many special cars can be spotted in the line-up: Among those is the very last of the 21,529,464 Beetles made before assembly ended in Mexico in 2003. Also, there were early models from the 1950s as well as numerous type 1200 and type 1302s from the early 70s. Among the Volkswagen New Beetles there was a strong share of convertibles. A specialty was a unique New Beetle Pick-Up. |
