Volvo Car Australia has given its recently released XC90 seven-seat SUV more equipment as well as a price cut.

For MY12 the Volvo XC90 line-up has been streamlined with four variants in the range – the 3.2 R-Design, 3.2 Executive, D5 R-Design and D5 Executive. The 3.2 R-Design opens the XC90 range at $69,990* – a drop of $4,460.

Despite the price cut the 3.2 R-Design now comes with Volvo Navigation System (VNS) standard (previously a $4,175 option) as well as a rear park camera (previously a $795 accessory) for a total of $9,340 worth of added value.

Inside, the R-Design models have R-Design embossed leather seats, R-Design inlays in the door handles and centres console, R-Design sports steering wheel and gear knob and R-Design floor mats.

The XC90 3.2 Executive is now priced from $71,490* (MLP*) and gains VNS as standard as well as speed sensitive steering, water repellent front side windows and a rear park camera. Over and above the equipment on the 3.2 R-Design, the Executive models have heated seats (with massage function and ventilation) and unique 19-inch Galateia alloy wheels. Executive models have Sovereign hide upholstery, walnut inlays on the door handles and centre console, wood steering wheel and gear knob and plush carpet.

The price of the diesel model has also dropped by $4,460. The XC90 D5 R-Design is now priced from $72,990*, the Executive starts at $74,490*.

Equipment on the D5 R-Design and Executive versions mirror the 3.2 models.

"The XC90 has been Australia's top selling seven-seat luxury SUV for the past four years running due to it's exceptional value for money, practicality, versatility and, of course, safety," said Volvo Car Australia Managing Director Matt Braid.

"The price revision and equipment additions for MY12 make the XC90 even more competitive in the market, especially with a starting price below $70,000*."
