Volvo Car Australia will release the updated Volvo S60 Polestar, developed by Volvo Car Group’s global performance and
motor sport partner, Polestar.
The latest version of the Volvo S60 Polestar builds on the strengths of the limited-edition debut model, which was
released only in Australia in 2013. The new car was unveiled just after the Clipsal 500, Volvo Polestar Racing’s debut V8
Supercar Championship race in Adelaide last week-end.
“We’re pleased to introduce the next incarnation of the Volvo S60 Polestar,” said Matt Braid, Volvo Car
Australia Managing Director.

“The luxury sedan segment in Australia is defined by significant performance variants. Following on the from the
successful limited-edition run last year in Australia, Volvo decided to introduce unique Polestar variants on the
production line for a number of markets.”
“As Polestar’s test market, if you like, we are delighted to be at the forefront of Polestar’s global development
as a high-performance sub brand.”
The evolution of the S60 Polestar is based on feedback from Australian journalists and customers to the highly-capable
debut model with this next generation, model year 2014 version, featuring gearshift paddles, new Brembo brake package and
a subtly-revised interior to further distinguish the S60 Polestar as a car at the very top of its game.
The six-cylinder turbo-charged T6 engine has been optimised by Polestar with a bigger turbo, new intercooler, revised
engine mapping and racing exhaust to produce 257kW and 500Nm.
The six-speed automatic gearbox has been Polestar-optimised, which means quick-shift gearchanges via the new gearshift
paddles. In conjunction with the launch control – and Polestar-optimised Haldex AWD system – the S60 Polestar will
accelerate from standstill to 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds, and on to a top speed of 250km/h (limited).
Chassis upgrades include modifications to increase rigidity of the chassis, with 80 per cent stiffer springs relative
to a standard S60 T6 R-Design. These changes combined, with the tailored high-performance Öhlins shock absorbers and 19”
Polestar graphite alloy wheels result in a precise, yet comfortable, ride.

The brake system has undergone modifications. The S60 Polestar now boasts six-piston Brembo callipers, 370mm
ventilated floating discs with high performance pads front and rear, providing superior braking performance with no
fade.
To reflect the increased performance of the S60 Polestar, positive aerodynamic effects have been achieved through
subtle, yet efficient, modifications based on data from tests in the Volvo Cars wind tunnel. The changes are visible with
the front splitters, optimising the airflow underneath the car, as well as a new rear spoiler and diffuser, increasing
downforce.
The new S60 Polestar incorporates unique sports seats for comfort during any driving condition. Upholstered in
charcoal Nubuck and leather, these are complimented by blue stitching and an embossed Polestar logo.
The new Volvo S60 Polestar is proof that cutting-edge race technology fine-tuned for the road, can deliver a refined,
assured and highly-entertaining performance car, capable of delivering whatever the weather.
The Volvo S60 Polestar will be available in Australian Volvo showrooms from April 2014.
