Volvo Car Australia posted very strong sales in
August of its all-wheel-drive XC70 wagon and seven-seat XC90.
Volvo Car Australia achieved a 73 percent increase in retail sales for August
2005 as compared to August 2004.
XC90 returned 175 retails to post its best monthly sales figure since launch
in July 2003 and an increase month-on-month of 39 percent. This impressive
improvement follows Volvo Car Australia's recent XC90 pricing restructure and
inclusion of seven seats as standard for XC90 2.5T and XC90 T6.
August was an even better month for XC70 with retails improving
month-on-month by 185 percent. In the process XC70 posted best-month retails in
more than two years.
"Our marketing focus on XC90 LE and the introduction in July of the XC70 SE
at $56,950 have definitely had a positive effect," said Steve Blyth, Managing
Director of Volvo Car Australia. "We are confident the recent adjustments to the
price-value equation are right for the XC70 wagon and the larger XC90."
"Two years ago, we knew we had a lot of work to do to turn around Volvo Car
sales in Australia. We're getting there," said Blyth.
The S80 sedan and V70 wagon are in run-out.
