Suzuki Australia yesterday unveiled the Suzuki SX4 WRC Concept car at Sydney's
2006 Australian International Motor Show. Earlier this year, in Europe, Suzuki launched the newest addition to its next
generation product line up, the SX4 and also announced plans to enter the world
rally championship (WRC) in 2008. Suzuki Australia Managing Director, Mr Takeshi Hayasaki, announced the official
launch of SX4 in Australia is now scheduled for the first quarter of 2007. The SX4, a sports cross over, combines the concept of "sporty compact"
together with Suzuki's strong 4WD tradition. The sleek and stylish 5 door hatch will comfortably seat up to five people. Ideal for a variety of settings and occasions, the SX4 will appeal to all
ages, genders and lifestyles with its versatile good looks. The SX4 combines the excitement, flexibility and power of 4WD with the
benefits of the accessibility of a passenger car and introduces a brand new
class of vehicle to the Australian market. Fitted with a 2.0L, four-cylinder engine, the SX4 will provide 107 kW of power
and feature an electronically-controlled all wheel drive system. "Needless to say, with the Suzuki SX4 on the horizon and a global strategic
plan in place, we are looking forward to highly successful results," Mr Takeshi
Hayasaki said. "I am very excited about our potential in the Australian market and believe
that Suzuki has some very strong products that cater directly to the needs and
desires of Australian consumers." Drawing from Suzuki's successful motor sport venture with the Swift and Swift
Sport, the Junior World Rally Championship has provided Suzuki with the ultimate
proving ground for testing new ideas and technologies, setting Suzuki as a
serious contender in the upcoming WRC series. |
