Suzuki To Expand SX4 Line-Up
12th March, 2007 | ||||
Suzuki's new SX4 sedan has made its worldwide
debut at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. The SX4 sedan is an additional variant to the SX4 hatchback, the third model
in Suzuki's next-generation product line-up and embodies Suzuki's philosophy
that a car should be fun to drive, a joy to use and a pleasure to own. Like its hatchback sibling, the SX4 sedan combines dynamic exterior styling,
responsive handling and a stylish and a spacious interior. The SX4 sedan has inherited the responsive handling of the Swift and
stability of the SX4 hatchback and combines advanced driving dynamics with the
ride comfort expected of a sedan. The European-influenced styling cues of the SX4 Hatchback are also reflected
in the sedan, which features a strong wedge shape and low rising waistline to
project an active lifestyle look. The interior of the SX4 sedan is particularly spacious due to the use of
Suzuki's traditional high-roof; a core design attribute that gives passengers a
higher seating position and a wider field of vision. The European specification of the SX4 sedan features dual SRS airbags, three
point ELR seatbelts and ABS with EBD as standard safety features. The rigid body, suspension mounts and links derived from the SX4 hatchback
are utilised in the sedan, while MacPherson struts and rear torsion beams
maximise suspension performance. It is equipped with an economical 1.6-litre VVT petrol engine and is
available with either 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. This vehicle will form the basis of the SX4 sedan variant due for release in
the Australian market in the third quarter of 2007. Launched in Australia last month as a 2.0L AWD variant, the Suzuki SX4
hatchback is already proving a popular choice with consumers. Priced from
$24,390 (RRP), the SX4 hatchback compliments Suzuki Australia's exciting model
line-up, including the Swift and Grand Vitara ranges. Appearing alongside the SX4 sedan in Geneva is Project Splash, the concept
for an all new, multipurpose vehicle to be introduced by Suzuki in the future.
Also on display is the latest iteration of Suzuki's SX4 WRC challenger, which
will enter two rounds on a test basis this year; the Rallye de France in October
and the Rally GB in November. The Suzuki SX4 will then make its World Rally
Championship debut in January 2008. Suzuki also announced intentions to devise a Swift Sport Rally Cup in an
effort to increase its motor sport activities. Both the Swift Sport Rally Cup Car
& the SX4 Sedan Sport concept on display in Geneva demonstrate the ongoing
commitment to Suzuki's motor sport programme. |
