8th October, 2004
Launched globally last month at the Paris Motor Show, the fun and contemporary style of the light passenger car was designed based on the feedback received on the highly popular study models - the Concept S and the Concept S2. The re-emergence of the Swift to the Australian market signifies new beginnings for the company, as Suzuki endeavours to draw on its past and recapture the heritage and success of the Swift name. A Suzuki icon, the original Swift entered the Australian market in 1984, and fast became a benchmark in light car packaging and design. The vehicle was partly responsible for establishing the Suzuki name as a car maker in Australia, and is fondly remembered by owners, enthusiasts and Suzuki personnel alike. "We are absolutely thrilled to have secured this vehicle for the Australian market, with stock due to arrive early next year. I am positive this preview will excite Suzuki fans and the general public," General Manager for Automobiles for Suzuki Australia, Mr. David Le Mottee said. "The pre-production model on display at the Australian International Motor Show, clearly reflects Suzuki's future direction as it embodies all that is fun, active, vibrant and youthful." Initially available on the Australian market in a five door manual and automatic hatch, the Swift will be powered by a sports tuned 1.5 litre VVT engine. Suzuki is renowned for its high levels of standard equipment and value for money, and the Swift will be no exception. |
