Suzuki 2006 Global Sales Announced
7th February, 2007 | ||||
Suzuki has released its global sales figures for 2006 with the result being
a total of 2.174 million units sold worldwide, an increase of 8% from 2005. The forecast for global sales in 2007 is 2.35 million units, an increase of
8% from 2006. A record high production was also achieved with a figure of 2.2 million
vehicles for 2006. Long term, Suzuki plans to further increase its number of
production plants around the world as part of its global strategy to produce
3 million units in 2010. Suzuki's global sales were assisted by impressive Australian sales. A total
of 15,798 units were sold in Australia in 2006, an increase of 14.3% in volume
compared to the 2005 figure of 13,794 units. The sales success can be largely attributed to the arrival of the Suzuki
Swift, APV Commercial Van and the all new Grand Vitara, while retail sales of
other Suzuki models such as Liana and Jimny also lifted. Suzuki Australia is on track to achieve yet another record for 2007 paving
the way to a projected goal of 40,000 units in Australia by 2010. The year 2007 is already off to a great start for Suzuki, with the release
of the new SX4 taking place at the present time. "The entire Suzuki team is thrilled with the results we have achieved and we
look forward to another record breaking year in 2007 further assisted by the
arrival of the all new SX4 model." Suzuki Australia Managing Director, Mr
Takeshi Hayasaki said. Click on an image for a larger and clearer view |
