25th November, 2005 Suzuki Australia have joined the organisers of Melbourne's Wednesday evening market, in an exclusive sponsorship deal earning the popular car manufacturer naming rights to the 'Suzuki Night Market.' The night market has become an essential part of summer in Melbourne and this year will be no exception with an extended season to accommodate the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games. Every year, thousands of Melbournians flock to the Queen Victoria market site on a Wednesday evening for a lavish menu of gourmet food, entertainment for the whole family, shopping bargains and good times. Suzuki has celebrated their best ever sales results in Australia in 2005, thanks to a new product line up and an aggressive new marketing campaign, which was launched following the release of the Suzuki Swift in February. An increased presence on television, and in the print media and the participation in brand building exercises such as the sponsorship of the Suzuki Night Market, have all contributed to developing the Suzuki brand and moving the Japanese car manufacturer into a new and exciting direction. The worldwide appeal of Suzuki product such as the all new Grand Vitara, the stylish Liana and the ever popular Swift can be linked to the bold and distinctive styling and obvious European influence in the design and performance of the vehicles, making Suzuki a perfect partner for the Night Market. This year there are over 30 food traders with an eclectic and exciting range of food to tempt everyone's tastes. Enjoy exotic foods from Morocco, Ethiopia, Malaysia, India, Japan, Vietnam and China. There is also seafood, Spanish and Italian dishes plus the ever popular poffertjes (Dutch Pancakes) for dessert. For the real enthusiasts- look for "Lord of the Fries"- the names says it all! There are two great freshly brewed coffee bars and for the kids, ice cream to keep the smiles on their faces. The Suzuki Night Market isn't just about food and drink. There is also great shopping and over 150 traders stocking unusual and unique Christmas gifts- that you just can't find anywhere else. The Suzuki Night Market's slant on great casual fashion also means fun browsing and buying. Have a look at the vintage American clothes, cowboy boots and rock and roll t-shirts. After your shopping, visit the Health and Harmony section of the Suzuki Night Market for the ultimate in relaxation. And, don't forget to drop past the Suzuki display, located at the corner of Queen and Therry Street, where the Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Liana and the Suzuki Swift will be on show every Wednesday night. The Suzuki Night Market began on Wednesday 30th November and will run every Wednesday evening (except December 28th) until the 22nd March from 5pm to 10pm.
