The European specification new generation Subaru Legacy,
known in Australia as Liberty, has achieved a top five-star crash worthiness rating.
The European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) awarded the five-star rating after testing the
left-hand drive Legacy 2.0D wagon.
The Model Year 2010 Liberty is due to be launched in Australia in a few weeks.
This year Euro NCAP introduced a stringent new combined safety performance test that evaluates four
criteria: adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, pedestrian protection and safety
assist.
Euro NCAP is an independent agency organised by transport authorities in European countries. It has
awarded the automotive safety rating since 1997.
Local testing results of Australian specification Liberty and Outback, conducted by the Australasian
New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP), are due to be announced in the near future.
Currently, Australia's entire Subaru range shares a five-star ANCAP rating for occupant
safety.
