Fuji Heavy Industries, the maker of Subaru vehicles, has
announced it will name its rear-wheel drive sports car the BRZ. The new model, jointly developed in
conjunction with Toyota will be in production next year.
The BRZ name comes from the letter B in Boxer engine, R in rear-wheel drive, and Z in the word Zenith.
FHI has indicated that it will exhibit a technology concept of the BRZ at next month’s Frankfurt Motor
Show in Germany.
Subaru BRZ production is due to commence in Japan during the northern spring 2012.
Australian availability will be announced later this year.
