Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru cars, today announced (in Japan) that it will exhibit the LEGACY CONCEPT as a European premiere at the 79th Geneva Motor Show slated for March in Geneva, Switzerland (open to the public from 5th March to 15th March).

In addition, Subaru Switzerland will see the introduction of Subaru’s latest Justy model in their market. The Justy was introduced in 2007 for the first time in some European markets.

Celebrating 20 years of the Legacy sedan, Subaru dispalyed a concept model at last month's Detroit Motor Show (in USA) that suggests the direction of future Liberty sedan design. The LEGACY CONCEPT was developed to showcase the Liberty’s sporting capabilities and features Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel drive system matched to a Horizontally-Opposed engine. Building on the Liberty model’s heritage, the LEGACY CONCEPT is presented as a global mid-size sedan with interior space to fit four adults in comfort.

The concept of the exterior design is based on “Presence”. Further increasing this sense is the dynamism achieved by the design lines that carve out a substantial mass, while the sharp body lines project a sense of sportiness and strength. Styling that highlights all four wheel arches emphasises the reliability and dynamism of symmetrical AWD. At the front of the vehicle, it clearly embodies the unique Subaru authority by offering a front grille showing the Subaru brand identity and LED headlamps characterised by their sharp design.

The concept behind the interior design is “High Definition”. A four-seat layout combined with a roof design that offers a feeling of freedom with the expansive legroom provides enough space to fit four adults in comfort and style. For the seats, Pearl white leather with a blue sheen has been adopted, while Black metallic leather has been used for the door trim to provide a luxurious contrast with the instrumental panel. Touch-panel displays, featured on the centre panel and some areas, provide ease of use in the various functions as well as high appearance quality at a high level.

The Liberty (known as Legacy outside Australia) was introduced globally in 1989, and since that date until December 2008 the total global production has exceeded 3.6 million vehicles making it Subaru’s core model. During that period, Subaru has been improving the basic elements of automotive performance by offering Subaru’s traditional core technology of Horizontally-Opposed engine and Symmetrical AWD, and also continuously evolving the vehicles’ features to reach the handling, stability and safety standards Subaru customers can enjoy today. The LEGACY CONCEPT incorporates the Liberty heritage while also serving as a concept model that provides an image of the new driving comfort and reliability that will continue to serve as a touchstone for Subaru.
