The Subaru Liberty 2.5i and Impreza WRX have won
two categories in Australia's Best Cars awards, presented today by the combined
motoring organizations.
Liberty 2.5i won Best Mid Size Car over $28,000 and Impreza WRX won Best
Sports Car under $57,000 - its second consecutive year for the award. Last year Impreza WRX was a joint winner with the Mazda RX8, but is sole
recipient in 2004. Impreza WRX also won an Australia's Best Cars award in 2001.
Cars were evaluated by the NRMA, RACV, RACQ, RAASA, RACWA, RACT and AANT
against a broad range of criteria including: on road performance, design, value
and functionality. Subaru Australia General Manager, Nick Senior, said: "We are delighted that
two core models in the Subaru range have again received awards as Australia's
Best Cars in their respective classes. "Liberty has been independently recognized in so many areas this year, from
its five-star ANCAP crashworthiness rating to its security, and this is
reflected in its retained value, which is another area where it excels. "Impreza WRX has also been highlighted recently for its outstanding security
and retained value and has, of course, been recognized many times for its
engineering and performance." Mr Senior added: "We are honoured to receive awards from the motoring
organizations, which our own research shows are held in very high regard by our
customers for their thoroughness and objectivity." |
