30th December, 2004 Following last month’s successful debut of the Smart tower at QV, the second leg of the 12-meter high design sculpture’s journey across the country is about to commence. At 9.00am on Tuesday 4th January at New Quay, Docklands, next to Mecca Bah, Smart will give folks the opportunity to see how the unique tower, which stacks six Smart cars on top of each other, is erected within a 60 minute timeframe. “When people first saw the Smart tower at QV they asked how?” said Sam Tabart, senior manager advertising, Mercedes Car Group. “As one of the most emotionally engaging three dimensional billboards anywhere, the tower has been a resounding success. “In the first month on display it was seen by thousands at QV leading to hundreds of customer leads. “People were amazed that a 12-metre high structure holding six Smart cars could suddenly appear in the same time it took them to have lunch. “At New Quay in Docklands on Tuesday 4th January we’re going to show them how it stacks. “New Quay will be a major destination over summer, overflowing with people who would love the Smart concept. “The Smart vehicle range is perfect for inner city urban dwellers so it makes sense to show off the new Smart tower in one of the best waterfront inner urban developments in the world,” said Tabart. The 12 metre high, 10-tonne galvanised steel sculpture can be stacked within one hour and consists of an amazing vertical tower of six Smart Fortwo coupes. The Smart tower concept is an Australian take on the iconic towers of European Smart dealerships. The tower’s appearance was made possible thanks to the support of MAB Corporation, developers of the New Quay precinct. Once constructed, the tower will remain on display until 7th February, when it will continue its travels. Be sure to keep your eye out for where the Smart tower is next as it continues its tour of the nation. |
