29th April, 2005 Škoda Auto will manufacture a fourth model range, based on the Roomster concept car first shown at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show. The new model will be introduced at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2006 and will be manufactured at the Škoda Auto assembly plant in Kvasiny, Czech Republic. "In Kvasiny, we are currently producing our most prestigious vehicle, the Škoda Superb. In 2001, almost seventy years after it was established, the plant underwent substantial modernisation and is now rated as one of the best within the entire Škoda Auto and Volkswagen Group worldwide for long-term quality," said Detlef Wittig, Chairman of the Board of Škoda Auto. "Since the production process of the Škoda Superb model also demonstrates high quality standards, we choose Kvasiny as the site to produce the new Roomster model." Škoda Auto will invest roughly three billion Czech crowns in production equipment and create 2,000 skilled jobs. The company plans to build a new logistic centre, and other staff facilities. The Czech government will provide investment incentives amounting to approximately 427 million Czech crowns. |
