The Skoda Fabia is now on Australian shores. The
combination of low running costs, advanced powertrain technology and Skoda’s traditional value for
money makes Fabia a welcome newcomer to the expansive Australian new car market.
The Fabia has a smooth look. The front end is dominated by a bold grille, headlights and bumper
arrangement which provide strong horizontal forms across the nose, giving the Fabia a low stance.
Trademark features of the Fabia are the distinctive wraparound windscreen and gloss black A-pillars. An
added feature on the Fabia is the option of choosing a contrasting roof colour.
Inside, the new Fabia’s entertainment system, steering wheel and materials provide an enjoyable
driving environment. Chrome-trimmed air vent inserts, gear lever frame and handbrake button enhance the
quality feel, as do high quality seat trim materials and air conditioning controls. Three-spoke leather
steering wheel with radio and phone controls, multi-function trip computer, cruise control and
Bluetooth® phone connectivity as standard further adds to the comfort and convenience levels.
In terms of driver comfort, the new Fabia offers the driver a high driving position. This not only
allows greater visibility of the road ahead, it also makes access easier and more comfortable. All
models feature height adjustment on the driver’s seat, along with height and reach adjustment on the
steering wheel. Practicality remains the core strength in the Fabia with the car boasting a large cabin
and a practical 315 litres of boot space.
The Fabia balances the need of its passengers with the demands of its driver. In terms of road
handling and comfort, the Skoda Fabia features MacPherson struts at the front, mounted to a three-part
subframe. This assembly is attached to the bodywork with anti-vibration mounts that help to keep noise
and vibration to a minimum.
The high safety level of the Fabia has been achieved by using the latest design methods, progressive
technological solutions and state-of-the-art vehicle construction techniques. The Fabia comes standard
with six airbags and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) including ABS, ASR, EBD and Brake Assist.
The Fabia comes with a 1.2-litre TSI engine producing 77 kW. Designed and engineered to offer more
performance, lower emissions and improved fuel consumption, this engine combines significantly lower
running costs with improved drivability and refinement.
The Australian launch of the Fabia will commence with two variants on offer from the Fabia range.
The Fabia 77TSI Hatchback and Fabia Monte Carlo 77TSI, both with 5-speed manual transmission as
standard, are leading the arrival of the Fabia range.
Other engine variants and DSG transmission for both models will be available in 2012 along with the
arrival of the sporty Fabia RS 132TSI, versatile Fabia Wagon, and spacious Roomster.

The Fabia forges strong links to the rest of the Skoda range with its bold grille, headlamps and
strong horizontal forms across the nose. The distinctive wraparound windscreen and gloss black
A-pillars and the C-shaped rear lights provides a feel of dynamism as well as confidence.
The added feature of choosing a contrasting roof colour to further personalise the car makes is
another key attraction in the Fabia.
In terms of driver comfort, the Fabia provides a high, comfortable driving position. This not only
allows greater visibility of the road ahead, it also makes access easier and more comfortable. All
models feature height adjustment on the driver’s seat, along with height and reach adjustment on the
steering wheel.
The essential feature of the Fabia is practicality. It offers extraordinary space for both the crew
and luggage. With the rear seats up, the hatch offers 315 litres of space– figures that many larger
family cars struggle to match.
To maximise the available space, the Fabia’s parcel shelf can be set at two different heights,
varying the boot capacity and ensuring that delicate objects can be protected during transit. It can
also be stowed behind the rear seats. Further protection for vulnerable items of luggage is offered by
the removable plastic retainer that attaches to the side of the boot.
CHASSIS AND SAFETY
The Fabia balances the needs of its passengers with the demands of its driver and comes standard
with six airbags and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) including ABS, ASR, EBD and Brake Assist.
In terms of design, the Fabia features McPherson struts mounted to a three-part subframe. This
assembly is attached to the bodywork with anti-vibration mounts that help to keep noise and vibration
transfer into the cabin to a minimum.
The Fabia enjoys excellent body control and feels remarkably secure through corners. Spring and
damper settings have been tuned to give a smooth ride without compromising handling ability. As a
result, the Fabia glides over poor surfaces and filters out imperfections before they reach the cabin.
At the rear, a lightweight semi-independent set-up ensures that the optimum wheel angle is maintained
at all times.
Another key element of the Fabia’s dynamic package is the steering system. All Fabia models are
equipped with electrohydraulic power steering as standard, and a combination of a tight 10.0 metre
turning circle and an unobstructed view makes manoeuvring and parking simple. The steering system has
also been designed to minimise power drain and draws significantly less power away from the engine than
a fully-hydraulic system.
The Fabia is also designed to protect outside the car. Pedestrian safety was a major target in the
development and the bonnet and front bumper are designed in such a way that they deform on impact and
absorb energy.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The Fabia has a 1.2-litre TSI engine producing 77 kW. Designed and engineered to offer performance,
and low emissions.
The 1.2-litre TSI engine uses direct injection and turbocharging to deliver a smooth and economical
driving experience which also delivers a low combined fuel consumption of 5.5 L/100 km (128 g/km CO2.)
Peak power is reached at 5,000 rpm and maximum torque of 175 Newton-metres is available between 1,500
and 4,100 rpm.
The Fabia is fitted as standard with a five-speed fully synchronised manual transmission. Here the
connection between the gearbox and the gear lever is via two gearshift cables, which makes it easy to
position the gear lever smoothly and precisely with short movements while at the same time reducing
vibrations from the engine.
The clutch is a dry, single-disc plate with hydraulic control. All Skoda cars with manual gearboxes
include a gear selection indicator to encourage fuel efficient driving. An arrow on the dashboard
insert screen suggests when to change gears in order to keep the engine in its most efficient rev
range.
FABIA MONTE CARLO 77TSI
This model is enhanced by sporty styling and a bespoke interior. Launched to celebrate 100 years of
the legendary Monte Carlo Rally, and to commemorate the 110-year anniversary of Skoda’s motor sport
involvement, this special edition model is a nod towards the brand’s sporting pedigree.
From the outside, the Fabia Monte Carlo boasts a dynamic look, underlined by the introduction of
piano-black body trim, which extends over the wheel arches and down the full length of the car, a black
roof, black wing mirror covers, a black radiator grille, smoked headlights and black 16” lightweight
alloy wheels.
Inside the Fabia Monte Carlo, customers can choose between all black or red and black sports seats
which boast additional side support. Both versions come with black roof lining, a perforated leather
steering wheel with red stitching, and leather handbrake and gearstick gaiter with red stitching (with
the red-black interior option). To complete the enhanced sporty appeal silver chrome kick plates and
steel pedals are fitted as standard.
Fabia Monte Carlo 77TSI comes with the 1.2-litre 77 kilowatt TSI engine and 5-speed fully
synchronised manual transmission.
VALUE AND EQUIPMENT

central locking, the Skoda Fabia enjoys a high standard of safety. Reach and rake adjustable steering
