Škoda To Support Ice Hockey World Championships In Australia

Škoda Australia is set to support Australian Ice Hockey. Škoda has always been a great fan and supporter of sport - as well as sponsoring cycling at the Tour de France, and now the Tour Down Under, Škoda has a had a long term relationship with Ice Hockey in Europe. Last year Škoda was officially acknowledged by the Guinness Book of Records as the "longest main sponsor of world championships in sport history". In 2007, Škoda Auto was the Official Main Sponsor of IIHF World Championships in the 15th consecutive year. Never in history has a commercial partner in any sport supported World Championships longer as a Main Sponsor. Ice hockey Ice hockey is a dynamic, challenging sport, requiring intelligence, technical superiority, performance and team spirit. Similar attributes are shared with the development and manufacture of modern automobiles. Škoda has supported the world championship as the main sponsor and exclusive "official vehicle" for fourteen years now; the sponsorship contract was recently extended until 2011. As a result the Škoda brand presented itself to 701 million television viewers watching the Ice Hockey world championship in more than 50 countries. In Australia Now, after it's arrival to Australian shores, the brand would like to continue it's commitment to sport by giving an opportunity to showcase Australian Ice Hockey.
