17th April, 2007 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
With 60,665 Škoda vehicles sold worldwide, March 2007 has become the most successful month in the entire history of Škoda Auto. Compared with last year, sales have grown by 14.8% and the last year's growth trend at Škoda Auto continues unabated ahead of the re-introduction of the brand to the Australian market later this year. On top of the outstanding March results, Škoda Auto achieved the highest-ever quarterly sales figures in its long history: from January till March 2007, the company sold 149,926 Fabias, Octavias, Roomsters and Superbs, thus increasing its sales by 15.5% as compared with the first quarter of 2006. The new Škoda Fabia had its world premiere at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. The new model is now being launched in the Czech Republic and Germany, with other countries to follow soon. Considering the positive reactions in Geneva, the new Fabia is likely to be a worthy successor to the first-generation model. Škoda Auto has become stronger in all regions where it has a presence: for example the company's sales have grown by 14.7% in Western Europe and by 7.8% and 50.4% in Central and Eastern Europe, respectively.
