* New Seat Ibiza 2006, more comprehensively and better
equipped than ever
* Range now offers a total of 18 model versions, comprising five trim lines
and a choice of eleven different engines
* Five trim lines available: Reference, Stylance, Sport, FR and Cupra
* New special package for the Reference trim line featuring: climate
control, 15-inch light-alloy wheels, front fog lights and cruise control
The new Seat Ibiza has now arrived in Seat’s European dealer network. Seat's
most successful model has undergone a major styling transformation, both inside
and out. It may not be a new model generation but it can certainly be referred
to as the new Ibiza following a body workout which has carefully honed its
sporting and dynamic characteristics. At the same time, its appearance now
mirrors the looks of the Seat Altea, Toledo and León more closely.
The new Ibiza range goes on sale with a choice of five different trim
lines: Reference, Stylance, Sport, FR and Cupra. The model restyling measures
are identical for the first three trim lines, while the FR and Cupra versions
each feature specific modifications designed to further underline their even
sportier character.
Wide range of engines available
The five trim lines and eleven engines combine to produce a model range
numbering 18 different versions in total which will all be available from the
launch of the new Seat Ibiza.
The engine range for the new Ibiza line will be one of the most complete
and wide-ranging on the market, and has not undergone any variation with respect
to the current line-up.
These renowned powerplants all offer proven efficiency. The petrol range
starts with the 1.2 12v followed by the 1.4 16v units
(with manual or automatic gearshift) and finally the 1.8 20v turbo
engines reserved for the Ibiza FR and Ibiza
Cupra. All of these engines are partnered by five-speed manual
gearboxes (apart from the 1.4 16v with automatic gearshift).
The diesel range offers a choice of five different direct-injection TDI
engines, including two 1.4-litre and three 1.9-litre units. The 1.4 is the
entry-level model with the second 1.4 litre engine developing 10 horsepower
more. The 100 horsepower 1.9 engine is the mid-range model, whilst the range is
headed by the 130 hp 1.9 fitted in the Ibiza FR and the 160 hp 1.9 which is the
most powerful diesel engine in this segment and exclusive to the Ibiza Cupra.
These two last power units are coupled to six-speed manual gearboxes, while the
three remaining engines come with five-speed manual gearshifts. All five comply
with Euro IV emissions standards.
