5th March, 2006 On show for the first time in Queensland, the new 9-5 Aero Sedan headlines Saab’s fresh model line-up at the Brisbane International Motor Show. The soon to be released 9-5 represents a distinctive, new design language for Saab vehicles. Inspired by the Saab 9X concept car, the 9-5 has a bold new face incorporating all-new front bodywork, with every element forward of the A-pillar a new design. The frontal design accentuates Saab’s characteristic triple-section design. Colour coordinated body sills, mouldings and handles also accentuate the dynamic lines of the car. New headlamp design also adds to the powerful appearance, with the light clusters edged in chrome and backed in black. Halogen projector headlamps are standard on the 9-5 range with bi-xenon headlamps standard on 9-5 Aero models. Once inside the car, the new 9-5 features a dramatic, new interior which adds to the sporty feel. The new instrumentation and controls are set against a dark back drop with chrome highlights and Saab Parchment colour headlining across the range. Under the bonnet, 9-5 also boasts performance and handling improvements in keeping with its dynamic styling. The front assembly is 40 per cent more rigid than its predecessor, with better road holding and steering precision. For the local market, the 9-5 range retains the turbocharged 2.3 litre petrol engine, with Aero receiving a power upgrade to 191kW. The new Saab 9-5 will be launched in Sedan and SportEstate models in Australia and New Zealand next month. The new 9-5 is the first production car to embody elements of Saab’s more progressive design language. Unveiled in Geneva last week, the Aero X concept car takes Saab design to the next level and shows the exciting possibilities that may lay ahead for the brand.
