Renault Australia is extending the Megane hatch line-up with
the introduction of the frugal and dynamic Megane hatch diesel. The introduction of the new Mégane hatch
diesel is the latest new product introduction from Renault Australia and continues the strong assault on
the new car market.
Debuting in the Megane hatch diesel will be Renault’s new six-speed EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch)
automatic transmission. This new gearbox, available exclusively with the 1.5 dCi 110 diesel engine, is a
landmark addition to the range and will enable new Megane customers to benefit from a transmission that
combines the comfort of an automatic with the response and fuel efficiency of a manual gearbox.
The new Mégane hatch diesel is powered by the Euro 5 compliant 1.5 dCi 110 engine. Producing peak torque
of 240 Nm at just 1,750 rpm the engine is nimble and responsive – perfectly suited for a fuel-efficient
daily commute or a sprightly country drive.
Both the frugal diesel engine and Efficient Dual Clutch contribute to the new Mégane hatch diesel’s
incredibly low fuel-consumption figure of just 4.5-litres/100 km on the combined cycle. In addition, just
117 g of CO2 are emitted per kilometre.

As with its petrol-powered sibling, the new Renault Megane hatch diesel will be available in two
generous specification levels – Dynamique, and the range topping Privilege.
With a price starting at just $27,490*, the new Renault Megane hatch diesel launches right in the heart
of the mainstream small segment, but delivers European styling and a longer list of standard features than
its competitors.
“Renault’s diesel engines are among the finest in the world. Quintessentially European, the new
Mégane hatch diesel combines Renault’s frugal diesel engine and new Efficient Dual Clutch gearbox to create
a dynamic and engaging drive,” said Justin Hocevar, Managing Director, Renault Australia.
“The small car segment is highly competitive in Australia. We have studied the market and are
confident that we are introducing a very competitively priced and highly specified car. In fact, when you
compare the level of standard equipment in the new Mégane hatch diesel versus its rivals, you see we are
clearly better value.”
“The new Megane hatch diesel comes with a 5 year/unlimited kilometre warranty.”
NOTE: * Manufacturer's List Price (MLP) excludes dealer delivery fees and the numerous statutory
charges (commonly known as on-road costs). Additionally, please note that all prices, fees and charges are
subject to change without notice, as are the specifications.
