The exclusive Cayman S Porsche Design Edition 1
10th September, 2007 | |||
A limited-edition all-black Cayman S with enhancements by Porsche Design will go on sale in Australia early next year. The special mid-engined sports coupe will be kept exclusive: priced from $172,900 (RRP) and with just a handful allocated to Australia out of a limited production run of 777 units. The black exterior treatment emphasises the 'nature' of the 217 kW Cayman S, and at the same time is a nod to Porsche Design and the famous Chronograph 1s designed by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche 35 years ago. The Porsche Design ‘look’ imparts additional luxury and class, achieved through a synthesis of interior and exterior enhancements. The black leather and Alcantara upholstery harmonises with refined details such as the instrument dials, the layout of which reflects that of all Porsche Design chronographs. Even the centre console, dashboard and door trims glisten in black, while the three spoke sports steering wheel, the gear lever, the handbrake grip and the roof lining are adorned in black Alcantara. The Porsche logo (crest) is embossed on the head restraints. Exterior differences include a lowering of the ride height by 10 mm with the adoption of Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard, with the stance perpetuated by 19-inch Turbo wheels pushed further outwards by fitting five millimetre spacers behind each one. Tyres are 235/35 ZR19 (f) and 265/35 ZR19 (r). The Porsche Design Studio, commenced by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche 35 years ago, has rapidly become a top international name for industrial design, luxury items, and consumer goods. A special case of Porsche Design goods – in black, or matt black, of course – will be given to each buyer of the Cayman S ‘Edition 1’. The car will appear at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this week. |
