29th November, 2005
The new Cayman S is revving up its engine: the sporty two-seater, developed
from the Boxster series as a mid-engine coupé, started arriving in the showrooms
of the 85 German Porsche dealers over the weekend. With this new
model, Porsche is closing the gap that has existed between the Boxster and the
911 Carrera to date, while at the same time sustainably extending its buyer base
for classic sports cars.
The Cayman S is powered by a newly
developed 217 kW flat six-cylinder engine. With a manual transmission,
the mid-engine sports car can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds,
with a top speed of 275 km/h.
