The 407 is the outstanding new car from Peugeot – designed to satisfy the
world’s most demanding consumers. The all-new sedan – which will soon be
followed by a ‘Touring’ model - will carry forward Peugeot’s key values of
dynamism, value for money, style and innovation.
Peugeot’s reputation for producing vehicles with outstanding dynamics will be
further enhanced by the 407 which features double wishbone front suspension – a
first on a Peugeot vehicle. The underlying specification of the 407 has been
designed to meet Peugeot’s demanding requirements for road-holding, driveability
and safety.
Stunning styling
The 407’s styling retains the ‘big-cat’ feel, but
with its distinctive air intake – shaped like an open mouth – and its prominent
badge, the 407 highlights two strong design features that mark a new stylistic
approach for Peugeot. Sitting on large-diameter wheels, the overall effect is
one of power, strength and security and a purposeful look that is able to convey
the exceptional dynamic performance of the car.
Petrol or Diesel HDi - a wide range of engines
The Peugeot 407
will be available with a choice of petrol or diesel engines. Further details
will be available in due course, however the 407 engines feature the latest
technology and provide numerous benefits to the customer. The various engine
options available combine with 5-speed and 6-speed manual gearboxes or 4-speed
or 6-speed automatic gearboxes. All diesel engines include a particulate
emission filter and those with manual gearboxes also comply with Euro 4 emission
standards.
Driving pleasure – an area where Peugeot’s expertise goes back a long
way
The Peugeot marque is synonymous with dynamic performance, safety and
driving pleasure. Dynamically, the 407 draws on experience and specialist
know-how to produce a car with outstanding handling characteristics.
The chassis features:
- A front axle with double wishbone and a linked hub carrier offering superb
road holding and comfort, combined with excellent directional control.
- A multi-arm rear suspension with dampers inclined inwards to optimise the
width of the boot.
Safety
Active safety on the 407 is of a high level and benefits
from large disc brakes with a diameter up to 330 mm and a new-generation ESP,
which is present on all versions. The latter comprises an anti-skid function,
ABS, emergency brake assist, new individual wheel brake force distribution and a
stability control system.
In addition to an advanced body/chassis construction, 407 features many other
passive safety features – including up to nine airbags. Occupants also benefit
from high-performance restraint systems such as active “anti-whiplash” head
restraints, adaptive front airbags coupled with pretensioning seat belts and a
force limiter.
Comfort and technology features
In keeping with 407’s exclusive
personality, the range will feature high levels of standard equipment such as
advanced air-conditioning, CD player and the “follow me home” headlight
function. In a vehicle as technologically advanced as 407, a whole range of
options is available – or fitted as standard on certain models. These include:
