Peugeot has launched its first ever four-wheel drive
SUV in Australia with the introduction of the diesel-powered 4007. The 4007
is Peugeot’s response to strong growth in the market for all-terrain
vehicles and SUVs – with SUVs occupying approximately 20 per cent of the
Australian market. The 4007 is a collaborative partnership between the PSA
Peugeot Citroën group with its C-Crosser and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation
with it's Outlander.
The result of this partnership is 4x4 technology
developed by MMC and energy-efficient diesel engine technology developed
Peugeot.
The 4007 features an innovative electronically controlled four-wheel drive
system, a powerful, latest-generation 2.2-litre HDi diesel engine, combined
with a versatile and dynamic package offering high levels of ride comfort
both on and off road.
The latest-generation 2.2-litre HDi diesel engine in
the Peugeot 4007 develops maximum power of 115 kW and maximum torque of
380Nm.
Its
fuel efficiency and environmental credentials are of the highest order, with
7.0 litres/ 100km and 191 grams/ km (CO2) respectively for the manual.
The
torque output from the diesel engine sees the 4007 capable of a braked
towing capacity of 2,000 kg.
The environmental performance is enhanced by the
particle emissions filter, a technology pioneered by Peugeot.
Peugeot’s expertise in terms of
suspension contributes to the superior road holding of 4007, while the
spacious interior layout allows for a 5-seat or 7-seat* configuration with
clever functionality.
Peugeot Automobiles Australia general manager/ director
Ken Thomas believes 4007 more than meets the expectations of today’s SUV
customers. “4007 is an SUV with very strong credentials having sold in
excess of 25,000 worldwide since launch” he said.
“It brings an affordable European
alternative for anyone looking for a luxurious medium-sized four-wheel drive
with the latest diesel technology.
“Gaining
access to the brand new Getrag 6-speed DSC automatic gearbox is a very
exciting development for 4007 and a further example of new technology
available today.
“We know towing capacity, ride & handling, seating
capacity and safety are paramount for today’s SUV buyer – happily 4007
delivers on these fronts.
“4007 also delivers one of the most fuel efficient
vehicles in its class with the benefit of low emissions.
“Peugeot celebrates over 120 years
of innovation where the brand has excelled in the toughest of environments.
Within this tradition, we are confident 4007 will be a great success in
Australia.”
The
4007 is available in two trims, ST and SV, replicating the grades found on
the 407 sedan and Touring wagon.
Both grades feature the new
2.2-litre HDi diesel engine as standard, and both are available with the
6-speed Dual Clutch System automatic gearbox.
Only the ST is
available with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The five-seat ST comes
standard with 16” alloy wheels, six airbags, ESP, cruise control, electronic
rear park assist, climate control air-conditioning and combined sports cloth
/ leatherette trim.
The Recommended Vehicle Price for the five-seat
ST is $45,490 in manual guise, while the 6-speed DCS auto adds $2,500 to the
price.
The seven-seat ST is only available with the DCS and has an
RVP of $49,190. The fully-loaded SV, complete with DCS automatic gearbox
arrives at $54,190 RVP.
