Peugeot To Present New 207 At Melbourne Motor Show
21st February, 2007 | ||||
Peugeot will launch its new 207 hatchback range onto the Australian market with
both diesel and petrol engines at the Melbourne Motor Show, next month. Both three-door and five-door hatches will be revealed when the Show opens on
2nd March and will go on sale shortly after the show ends on 12th March. The 207 has a unique Peugeot family appearance with a blend of soft curves
and bold contours, plus the availability of a distinctive full-length glass
roof. Engine choices begin with a frugal 1.4 litre engine, as well as two all-new
engines developed by Peugeot in collaboration with BMW; a naturally aspirated 1.6
litre and a 1.6 high-pressure turbo. Completing the engine range will be a 1.6 litre HDi diesel engine featuring a
particulate filter as standard. The new 207 range includes a GT model which features the
turbocharged, direct injection 1.6 engine and manages to extract more power and
economy from a smaller engine than its 206 predecessor. For those seeking Peugeot panache without the extreme performance, the range
starts with a 1.4-litre model that is tipped to be around $20,000 when Peugeot
announces prices at the Motor Show. A five-speed manual transmission is standard across the range, with the
option of a four-speed automatic in 1.6-litre models. Safety is a strong suit of the new 207, with a Euro NCAP five-star occupant
protection rating, a four-star child protection score and a three-star
pedestrian impact rating. Among the most eye-catching features available on the 207 is a full-length
glass roof designed to maximise the feeling of interior spaciousness. |
