Nissan’s flying start to 2004 continued in March with a
total of 5466 retail sales – the best March result since 1990.
For the third consecutive month, Nissan held fourth position in the
Australian automotive market with a 6.4% market share and a 6.6% share
year-to-date.
March also signaled the end of Nissan’s 2003 financial year, and the twelve
month period saw the company record a remarkable 62,031 vehicle sales – the best
fiscal result in fourteen years, and a 23% increase on the previous year’s
total.
The outstanding sales during March were generated by high demand for both
Nissan’s passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle line-ups.
Stand-out performers in the passenger vehicle range included the ever-popular
Pulsar sedan and hatch with 1886 sales and Nissan’s all-new prestige vehicle
entry, the Maxima sedan, which claimed a record 425 sales during March - the
second best monthly tally ever.
Sales of the 350Z sports coupe and roadster remained
strong, with 112 delighted new owners registered during the month.
But it was the commercial vehicle line-up that excelled during March, with
Nissan’s CV range – which includes Patrol, Pathfinder, X-TRAIL and Navara –
recording its best-ever March result of 3045 vehicle sales.
Both the extremely popular X-TRAIL, with 1146 sales and the Navara 4x4, with
596 sales also recorded their best-ever March results.
Nissan Australia’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Paul Stead, was delighted
at the strong first quarter sales for the company.
“It has been a solid start to the year and we are pleased to see the market
is also ahead of expectations.”
“With the support of our Nissan Dealer Network, we expect to see Nissan sales
continue to rise as we approach our peak selling period,” Mr Stead said.
