11th November, 2004 Nissan Australia has achieved an outstanding sales result during October, recording a market share of 8.1%, the best monthly share in over twelve years. The company recorded total sales for the month of 6,580 units, the best ever October result, up an impressive 23% on the same period last year. This result cements Nissan’s position as the number one automotive importer in Australia and was supported by strong sales of both passenger and commercial vehicles from Nissan’s popular Australian line-up. With sales of 692 units, Nissan’s stylish Maxima sedan claimed over 20% market share in its segment, the best result ever for the vehicle. The popular Pulsar sedan and hatch – which received an updated pricing and specification structure in September - recorded a remarkable 2,716 sales, the best monthly result since July 2000 and the best October result since 1990. Passenger vehicles weren’t the only winners for Nissan during October - commercial vehicles also excelled. With a total of 849 vehicles sold during the month, the Navara 4x4 utility achieved its best monthly sales ever, taking the total calendar year-to-date sales for the vehicle to 8,837 – a rise of 31.2% over the previous year. The new 2005 Nissan Patrol wagon was released during October and received a warm reception, recording 852 sales for a market share of 44.9% - the best October share ever. And Nissan’s compact four-wheel drive, the extreme X-TRAIL, continued to shine with 991 sales for a top placing in its market segment. Mr Paul Stead, Director of Sales and Marketing, attributed the excellent results to the ongoing popularity of Nissan’s vehicle line-up. “With the recent updates to our Patrol and Pulsar range, and continued strong sales from our Navara and X-TRAIL four-wheel drives, we’re looking forward to a strong finish in the last quarter of 2004,” Mr Stead said. |
