5th September, 2004 Nissan Australia continued to perform strongly during August, reporting 4,586 sales during the month and bringing the year-to-date total to 40,548 sales, 7% ahead of the same period last year. Passenger vehicle sales were up 355 units on the previous month, but it was the company’s commercial vehicle range that really excelled, with 2,937 vehicles sold for the best August result ever. The 350Z roadster and coupe (92) and Pulsar sedan and hatch (1,143) continued to perform strongly and Nissan’s new prestige sedan, the Maxima, also reported its best August ever with 414 sales. Navara 4x4 was another vehicle to record its best August sales ever with 826 units, up 34.1% on the same period last year and an increase of 36.6% on a year-to-date basis. The third vehicle in Nissan’s passenger and commercial vehicle line-up to record the best-ever August result was the compact 4x4 X-TRAIL, with 1,043 retails during the month, up 9% year-to-date on 2004. And the Patrol wagon and cab chassis recorded another strong month with 664 and 259 units sold respectively. According to Paul Stead, director of sales and marketing for Nissan Australia, the company can look forward to increased sales for the rest of 2004. “During September we are announcing a new pricing structure for our Pulsar sedan line-up, with the ST Pulsar sedan now available from $18,990* and in October, we will release the 2005 model year Patrol. These two vehicles will ensure we keep the momentum building right through to the end of the year,” Mr Stead said. *Pricing is recommended retail price and excludes dealer delivery and on-road costs.
