30th June, 2006 Discerning automobile connoisseurs should take note that the Morgan Motor Company has just announced that the stunning Morgan AeroMax, the prototype of which made its debut at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show, will go into limited production. Following an exhaustive study into the viability of producing the AeroMax Coupe, the company has decided to build this very special car. It is planned to produce a limited run of just 100 individually numbered cars, with production starting in January 2008. Cars will be hand built in typical Morgan manner, coming off-line at a rate of 1 or 2 per week. This means that the final cars will be delivered during 2009, the Morgan Centenary year. A BMW V8 engine, similar to that fitted to the Morgan Aero 8 sports car, will power the AeroMax. Other specifications will be similar to the latest Aero 8. Specifications include technical features such electronic monitoring of the tyre pressures and temperatures, AP Racing brakes (350 mm front/332 mm rear), ABS, EBD, DCT and a BTR limited slip differential. All the usual comfort and safety features expected of a vehicle in this class are fitted as standard. Sharing its racecar derived lightweight aluminium chassis with the Aero 8; it is at around 1,100 kg the lightest production V8 coupe in the world. This ensures effortless “super car” performance, with its zero to 100 km/h acceleration time of around 4.5 seconds. With its arresting looks and scintillating performance, the rare and exclusive Morgan AeroMax is sure to become a sought after car for automotive collectors and enthusiasts. |
