3rd December, 2005
For some time now, the Morgan 4/4 has been the longest running model in continuous production,
regardless of the manufacturer.
In 2006, the Morgan 4/4 celebrates its 70th Anniversary and to mark the occasion, the Morgan
factory has come up with a unique Anniversary version of the iconic 4/4 model, which takes
characteristics of each of the 4/4’s illustrious decades, that are reflected in the detailed
specifications.
Only 142 cars will be built, 2 cars for each year since 1936.
The Morgan 4/4 Anniversary model features a number of unique features, as well as having
some items that are normally optional, fitted as standard.
Australian cars will differ from their UK and European counterparts in the following areas:
- Twin airbags and side intrusion bars are fitted to the Australian cars
- The European woodrim steering wheel is deleted, being replaced by an airbag leather rim steering
wheel for Australia
- Australian cars are fitted with a polished walnut dashboard, incorporating an airbag for the passenger
- European cars are fitted with a unique painted dashboard
- European cars have a sports exhaust fitted
In comparison to the standard Australian Morgan 4/4, which continues to be available, the 4/4
Anniversary models will have the following additional features as standard:
- Folding and reclining sports seats, in lieu of fixed backrest angle sports seats
- Fold flat windscreen
- Elasticated door pockets
- Tonneau cover
- Badge bar
- Round exterior mirrors
- Le Mans polished gear knob
- Special St Christopher dash plaque
- Bonnet strap
- Extra bonnet louvres
- Door handles
- Chrome interior mirror
- Radio/CD, speakers and aerial
- Clock
Instead of the painted centre lock wire wheels fitted to the normal 4/4 model, the Anniversary cars
will come with bolt-on disc wheels, fitted with hubcaps in the traditional manner.
Although the hood design is based on the latest “20-second” version fitted to current cars, the rear
window reflects the style of the period that a particular car represents.
Therefore we have the “oval window” for the cars representing the thirties and forties, the “double D”
design for the cars of the fifties, suitably the “smile” window for the cars representing the “swinging
sixties”, moving to the “BIG” design for the seventies and eighties and culminating with the current
design for cars representing the nineties and beyond.
A number of optional extras are available, including the stainless steel wire wheels, for cars
representing from 1970 onward.
Four colours are available for customers to choose from, with Black and British Racing Green
being available on all, plus two period specific colours for each decade.
Buyers for cars from the fifties can for example additionally choose to have Duck Egg Blue or
Dove Grey, whereas in the sixties these change to Iris Blue or Saturn Red.
Only certain leather colours are available for each period.
These special Morgans are priced from $109,000 “drive-away” in Victoria, excluding options.
Interstate prices are quoted upon request, based on the applicable statutory charges and delivery fees.
With only two cars per year being available globally, buyers intent on purchasing a car representing
a particular year, will have to move fast!
