Mitsubishi’s Grandis people-mover has had a luxury
make-over as part of a model upgrade, and now offers even better value for money
in its new guise.
Externally Grandis has not changed, but the interior of the ’06 model year
Grandis gets a new sporty look. The dark blue/light grey interior trim has
been replaced with a black/grey interior with dark grey cloth seat trim. The
gear-shift gets a silver mesh-look highlight to surround the sporty in-dash
lever.
Powered by a Euro 3 compliant 2.4 litre 16-valve four-cylinder MIVEC engine
developing 120kW at 6,000 rpm and 216Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, the Grandis puts
its power to the ground through a four-speed INVECS II ‘Smart Logic’ automatic
transmission with ‘Sports Mode’ sequential shifting operation.
However, the real news is the optional luxurious appointments that are now
available to make family driving a comfortable and enjoyable experience. These
include:
- Leather seats with heated front seats - New design 17” five-spoke alloy
wheels - Dual sunroof – front manual, rear electric slide - Roof
rails - Leather and wood steering wheel - Woodgrain gearshift lever -
Silver mesh power window switch panels - Chrome interior door handles -
Illuminated driver and passenger vanity mirrors - An additional two speakers
for the AM/FM radio with 6-CD in-dash audio system - Privacy glass -
Reversing sensors - Air pollen filter
Three new colours have been added to the Grandis colour palette to freshen
the colour range, and it now is:
- White Solid - Cool Silver Metallic - Fraser Beige Metallic (new) -
Red Metallic (new) - Purple Metallic - Effect Grey Mica (new) - Deep
Blue Metallic - Black Mica
The stylish Grandis comes with a comprehensive list of standard features that
are consistent with a family wagon. These include power steering, power windows,
power exterior mirrors, cruise control, dual climate control automatic air
conditioning, front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce
Distribution (EBD), copious storage areas, 16” alloy wheels, and an extremely
flexible three-row seating arrangment.
The price for Grandis is $39,990 for the entry model, and $45,250 when the
additional luxury features are optioned. The new Grandis range is now available
from Mitsubishi dealers.
