A continuation in the re-positioning of Mitsubishi’s
Express Van range has seen its popular semi-bonneted Walk-Thru variant get more
safety features at a more attractive price.
Late last year Mitsubishi overhauled its Express Van range when it adopted
a 2.0 litre multi-point SOHC four-cylinder engine that met Euro Step 2 emission
standards across the range. At the same time it was re-positioned so that it
became the most powerful van under $25,000.
All Walk-Thru Express Vans now landed in Australia also come with Driver
Airbag and ABS as standard equipment. Previously available as an optional extra
for $4,340, Express Van is the only van to offer these features as standard.
Considering the occupational health and safety aspects of a professional driver
that is constantly on the road day in and day out, the provision of ABS and
airbags are highly desirable duty of care items for all van owners.
Additionally, the monocoque body design of Walk-Thru ensures high levels of
occupant protection, with its inbuilt crumple zones designed to absorb impact
energy and prevent harm to the occupants.
The 2.4 litre 16-valve SOHC multi-point injected 4-cylinder engine that is
reserved exclusively for Walk-Thru develops 97kW of power at 5500rpm and 192Nm
of torque at 4250rpm, making it amongst the leaders in its category (Hiace has
88/200, Transit 103/200 and Volkswagen 62/159). The engine is LPG compatible and
Euro Step 2 compliant.
Walk-Thru Express Van is now available for $29,290 in manual form and $31,490
as an automatic.
