Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has announced that the 2012
Mitsubishi Outlander Sport (ASX in Australia, RVR in Japan) was named a Top Safety Pick by the United States' Insurance
Institute for Highway Safety non-profit vehicle research and crash test ratings agency.
The Outlander Sport (ASX) is Mitsubishi Motors’ second vehicle to achieve Top Safety Pick status, joining the 2012
Lancer sedan on the elite list of cars to score the IIHS's highest marks for vehicle crash testing.
For a production vehicle to be named a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS, it must earn a "good" rating across all of the
organisation's crash test evaluations. The 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport (ASX) received a "good" test score in the
following key areas:
- Offset front impact crash testing
- Side impact crash testing
- Roof strength test results
- Rear crash protection/head restraint ratings

Contributing to the Outlander Sport/ASX’s high rating were the use of high-tensile steel sheets which deliver reduced
weight and increased crash safety. Safety in the Outlander Sport/ASX was also increased through optimising the body
structure and the inclusion of driver's knee airbags.
This is not the first time Mitsubishi’s compact cross-over has been recognised for its outstanding safety. The ASX
received a five-star crash safety rating, the highest rating possible, in 2010 from ANCAP (Australasian New Car
Assessment Programme) and in 2011 the ASX received the same rating from Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment
Programme).
In Australia, the Mitsubishi ASX is priced* from $25,990*.
NOTE: * Manufacturer's List Price (MLP) excludes dealer delivery fees and the numerous statutory
charges (commonly known as on-road costs). Additionally, please note that all prices, fees and charges are
subject to change without notice, as are the specifications.
