2nd March, 2005 Mitsubishi Motors’ sales bounced back to much better levels in February, and the Company recorded a 18% lift on February ‘04 and a massive 27% increase on January ’05. It was the Company’s best February sales result for three years. The LCV range were the star performers , and recorded their best result since 1993, and it was the best Triton result since 1999. Similarly, Magna / Verada recorded their best February sales result for three years. Other pleasing improvements were the 84% increase in Colt sales month-on-month, and MIVEC Outlander still showing strong results since the new MIVEC engine was introduced into the range in the middle of last year. President and CEO, Tom Phillips, said that the Company’s turnaround was pleasing, and was in line with all the indicators the Company had that showed that consumer confidence was strengthening in the Mitsubishi brand. “Our tracking research has confirmed that, as well as a three-fold increase in hits on our own website and all the major public motoring websites, as consumers show interest in wanting to know more about our cars. “This research shows they understand that Mitsubishi knows it can stand behind its products for this extended time-frame because it has the confidence in its products to do so. This confidence is now rubbing off on consumers, and they are returning to our showrooms. “We are confident that the turnaround will continue, and are looking forward to a further improvement in March,” Mr Phillips said. |
