Production of the first all-new MG in 16 years,
the MG 6, has commenced at MG Motor UK’s factory.
Customer car number 1 came off the final assembly line in the Car Assembly Building at the
firm’s plant in Birmingham on Wednesday 13th April 2011. This marks the start of a new era in
the 87 year history of the iconic British brand.
The so-called customer car #1 was driven off the production line by worker Lisa Ponter.
The first deliveries to customers will take place next month.
The sports fastback model was designed and engineered by a team of professionals at the UK
plant.
Three trim models of the 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol MG 6 are available with UK prices
ranging from £15,495 to £18,995 for the top-of-the-range highly-equipped TSE model.
There are currently no plans to bring the MG 6 to Australia.
In other MG news, a total of just 8* new MGs were registered in the UK during March 2011.
This brings the year-to-date total to 18*, compared to 52* for March 2010 and 82* for YTD
2010.
These figures highlight the importance to MG of meeting market success with their new 1.8
litre turbocharged 4-cylinder 6.
