Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class Success
24th April, 2007 | ||||
Mercedes-Benz is reporting very positive results for its CLS-Class: More than
100,000 units of the innovative four-door coupe have been delivered to customers
around the world since the vehicle was launched in Europe in October 2004. “The CLS-Class combines the elegant design vocabulary and dynamics of a coupe
with the comfort and functionality of a sedan in a completely unmatched way,”
says Dr. Klaus Maier, Executive Vice President Mercedes Car Group, responsible
for Sales and Marketing. “The extraordinarily positive customer response to a model that is still
unique underscores Mercedes-Benz’ role as a trendsetter in the development of
new vehicle concepts and impressively demonstrates the success of our product
strategy.” Demand for the CLS is particularly high in the U.S., where about 27,000 units
have been sold since the vehicle was introduced to the market in January 2005.
The second biggest market for the four-door coupe is Germany accounting for
about 20 percent of global sales. In Australia, the CLS-Class model range has recorded sales of 88 units for
February, year-to-date. This represents an increase of 200 per cent over the
same time last year (February YTD 2006, 44 units). The CLS-Class also boasts 6
per cent growth year-on-year (February 2006 to February 2007) in the Large
Vehicle > $70,000 segment, a segment that has only grown by 4.6 percent over
this time. The CLS 350 model continues to be the most popular choice in Australia, with
354 sales at the end of 2006, an increase of 61 per cent over the previous year. |
