The new top of the line model, the CL 65 AMG, with its powerful V12 bi-turbo engine delivering 450 kW and 1,000 Newton metres of torque, brings driving dynamics to the highest level. Additionally, available and limited to 40 units is the “40th Anniversary Edition” with exclusive AMG Alubeam paintwork, and which marks a special event: AMG, the high-performance brand of the Mercedes Car Group (MCG) celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2007.

The new CLK 63 AMG Black Series represents a transition from motor sport into pure culture. The fast V8 coupe is visually and technologically closely related to the Official F1™ Safety Car. With its sophisticated cooling and new AMG threaded sport suspension, this two-seater, with 373 kW, is predestined for hard campaigning on the racing circuit.

After the S 65 AMG and the SL 65 AMG, the new CL 65 AMG is the third AMG model to use the powerful AMG 6.0 litre V12 bi-turbo engine. This exclusive sports coupé posts outstanding performance: 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, and 200 km/h after just 13.3 seconds. The high-torque engine stands out with its characteristically smooth AMG V12 sound.

The standard equipment in the new CL 65 AMG includes not only AMG styling, a distinctive AMG interior, the PRE SAFE® occupant protection system and 20-inch AMG forged wheels, but also the AMG sports suspension based on Active Body Control and the AMG high-performance brake system with dual-frame floating calliper disc brakes.

An even more exclusive equipment version is offered by the limited-edition “40th Anniversary” making its appearance to mark AMG’s 40 years of operation. This special CL 65 AMG is the first Mercedes-Benz production vehicle to be finished in AMG Alubeam. With this unique paint finish, the colour has the appearance of liquid metal and ingenious light reflections make it appear even more vibrant.

Inside, the CL 65 AMG “40th Anniversary” is dynamically accented by two-tone all nappa-leather upholstery in a diamond pattern and by carbon trim highlights.

CLK 63 AMG Black Series: Close Kinship with the Official F1™ Safety Car

The CLK 63 AMG Black Series has other strengths – although it, like the limited CL 65 AMG “40th Anniversary”, was developed in the AMG PERFORMANCE STUDIO. This fast, two-seater V8 coupe is both technically and visually related to the Official F1™ Safety Car. The AMG 6.3-litre V8, its performance boosted to 373 kW, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds – accompanied by a powerful V8 note from the new AMG sports exhaust system. Optimised for the racing circuit, the coupé features sophisticated cooling design measures that give it maximum stamina no matter how hard it is driven.

There is nothing second-rate about this car’s power transmission, suspension and brakes: the modified AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC with its shorter rear-axle ratio ensures even greater agility in all speed ranges. The suspension setup can be personalised with the new AMG threaded sports suspension to alter the suspension level; the rear-axle differential lock provides optimum traction, and the AMG high-performance brake system, with larger composite-technology discs on the front axle, delivers impressive deceleration values. Amazing cornering speeds are guaranteed by the standard tyres in size 265/30 R 19 (front) and 285/30 R 19 (rear), which are mounted on particularly light 19-inch AMG forged rims.
