The new Mercedes-Benz CLS is subject to two separate recall notices.
One relates to the potential loss of steering control which affects 23 units which were manufactured between
November 2010 and April 2011. In this instance electric power-assisted steering may disengage although the mechanical
steerability of the vehicle will be maintained at all times.
The other case relates to potential impact injuries from a collision. In isolated cases, the second stage of the
front passenger airbag may not deploy as designed. The first stage of the airbag will in all situations remain fully
operational, however. Some 42 units may have this problem.
Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific will contact relevant owners (where possible). Otherwise owners should contact
a Mercedes-Benz dealer to arrange rectification.
