14th December, 2005 Mazda Motor Corporation will showcase the world premiere of the Mazda Kabura compact sports coupe concept vehicle, and the all-new Mazda CX-7, a crossover sports-utility-vehicle (SUV), at the 2006 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), to be held in Detroit from Sunday, 8th January through Sunday, 22nd January, 2006. Joining them on the Mazda stand will be a Mazda 5 Hydrogen RE Hybrid concept vehicle—powered by a RENESIS hydrogen rotary dual-fuel-engine that can use hydrogen or gasoline, and offering both Zoom-Zoom driving pleasure and outstanding eco-friendliness. A Mazda Tribute Hybrid will also be shown. All-New Mazda CX-7 The Mazda CX-7 crossover sport-utility vehicle (SUV) will make its public debut at the Greater Los Angeles Motor Show, and the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 2006. Arriving in the North American market in the first half of 2006 and in the Australian market a year later, the five-seat CX-7 embodies an astute blend of sports car verve and SUV practicality, resulting in a fun-to-drive SUV with Mazda’s trademark “Soul of a Sports car”. It is a vehicle that brings together performance and design like never before. Prominent front guards, A-pillars rooted at the body’s leading edge, and Mazda’s signature five-pointed grille clearly register this new model as a Mazda. Large eighteen-inch aluminium wheels proclaim CX-7’s Zoom-Zoom intentions. The sporty interior fulfills every car enthusiast’s innate desire to jump in and drive. Along with this sporty overall image, high quality is achieved through detailed craftsmanship. The Mazda CX-7 is powered by a turbocharged and intercooled 2.3-litre four-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine, MZR 2.3L DISI TURBO that in North American tune produces a hearty 180 kilowatts at 5,000 rpm. Mazda Kabura Mazda Kabura, a compact sports coupe, is a concept car designed at Mazda’s design centre in California. Kabura is the third design concept vehicle from Mazda following Mazda SASSOU (designed at Mazda’s European Design Centre) and Mazda Senku (designed at Mazda’s Yokohama R&D Centre), each reflecting the global influences that Mazda chief designers can draw from. With a compact body, the Mazda Kabura sports coupe is a vehicle that combines the pleasures of sports car driving with functionality. With a rear-drive powertrain that elicits dynamic styling and a wide range of utilities on board, it was designed for first new car buyers who love to drive. Kabura is a concept car that embodies the highest elements of Mazda’s Zoom-Zoom ethos. “Kabura” is a Japanese term taken from “Kabura-ya”, an arrow that makes a sound when fired and was used to signal the start of a battle. The “first arrow into battle” depicts Mazda’s spirit of pursuing unique and exciting ventures.
