Mazda’s newest nameplate - the CX-3 - has arrived and is on sale across Australia.

Mazda has put its first-ever CX-3 up against such worthy competitors as Holden Trax, Mitsubishi ASX, Nissan Juke, Kia Sportage, Hyundai ix35 and the all-new Honda HR-V.

With a record 87,237 small SUVs sold last year, sales are already 35 per cent up Year-On-Year in 2015 in this segment with Hyundai leading the way.

Starting from $19,990* the Mazda CX-3 comes in four grades including the entry-level Neo, the Maxx, sTouring, and the range-topping Akari.

The CX-3 is available locally with two engine choices including an all-new 1.5 litre diesel and a 2.0 litre petrol, matched to a 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission.

The new Mazda CX-3 comes with drivetrain choices of Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) or All-Wheel Drive (AWD) across both the diesel and petrol engines.

Fuel consumption rating examples include: the 1.5 litre diesel FWD with 6-speed automatic transmission at 4.8 litres/100km and the 2.0 litre petrol FWD comes in at 6.1 litres/100km.

MZD Connect, Mazda’s infotainment system, includes a seven-inch touch screen operated by a centrally located commander control, and a Active Driving Display available on some higher grade models only. For those with the petrol powered 2.0 litre engine, Drive Selection feature switches the powertrain into a more sporty mode, while two USB ports and reverse camera are fitted to Maxx models and above.

A range of protective measures including, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Traction Control System (TCS), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and front, side and curtain SRS airbags are standard across the range.

Available in eight colours including Soul Red Metallic and the newly introduced Ceramic Metallic, the range comes with four interior trim choices including the stylish white leather option on the Akari.
