Mazda 3 buyers will get more choice with the confirmation that a diesel
version is to be added to the Australian Mazda 3 line-up later this year.
The new Mazda 3 XD Astina will be powered by the same 2.2 litre diesel engine that is currently available on the 6 and
CX-5.
With outputs of 129kW and 420Nm, and a kerb weight lighter than its larger diesel siblings, the new 3 XD Astina will
offer buyers a new alternative in small Mazdas.

Mazda’s i-ELOOP regenerative braking system will also make its 3 debut on the new XD Astina.
A combined cycle fuel economy rating from just 5.0 litres per 100km, dependant on transmission, should also grab the
attention of prospective buyers.
Available as a hatchback and with a choice of the 6-speed manual transmission or the 6-speed automatic transmission,
the XD Astina also adds a unique red highlight to the chrome signature wing on the front grille to set it apart from the
petrol-powered 3.
The Mazda 3 XD Astina is due to go on sale locally on 1st September.
